ROC NY – Celebrate One Year of Struggle at The Capital Grille
Where: The Capital Grille, 155 E. 42nd St., NYC
Join the Restaurant Opportunities Center of New York (ROC-NY) to celebrate one year of worker struggle!
For the past year, workers at The Capital Grille have been organizing to change conditions in their workplace, alleging racial discrimination and wage theft, in addition to experiencing other exploitative conditions. Meanwhile, parent company, Darden Restaurants (which also owns Red Lobster and Olive Garden) pulled in over $700 million in profits just last year!
The workers have had enough, and they are telling Darden that it’s time to decide. Will it continue to take the low road to profitability, like making their employees make the choice between working with the flu or not getting paid? Or will it shift course to take the high road and provide dignified work for its workers?
Capital Grille workers in New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, and the DC area are calling for Darden Restaurants to sit down with them and the Restaurant Opportunities Center to find a real, meaningful solution to this dispute. We want nothing less than racial and economic justice!
So join ROC-NY, Thursday, January 31st, on the anniversary of launching the Dignity at Darden campaign, as we show Darden that Capital Grille workers will not rest until justice is had.
