Rally for Justice w/Grand Café Workers
Where: 46th St. and Vanderbilt Ave, New York, NY, 46th St. and Vanderbilt Ave, New York, NY
At 8am on Wednesday morning, Dec. 4 join 99 Pickets and Grand Café workers (members of ROC-NY) for a rally at Grand Café (near Grand Central). Workers are fighting against wage theft, intimidation and illegal retaliation.
These courageous people are part of the growing movement of low wage and immigrant workers, rising up all over against exploitation and unconscionable working conditions. It’s time for #AllOfUs to draw a line in the sand, and fight for fair wages and dignity on the job!
Meet at 46th St. and Vanderbilt Ave.
More about Grand Café Workers
Immigrant workers at Grand Café, a deli near Grand Central Terminal, have been organizing against wage theft and exploitative conditions at Grand Café since early 2013. This grassroots campaign is completely driven by workers, with the support of ROC-NY.
Workers describe a daily experience of low wages, missing tips, unsafe conditions, job insecurity, and having no benefits whatsoever. One worker called it “being treated like robots.”
Grand Café workers are fighting for basic respect on the job, but already four of them have been illegally fired for their organizing activities. This has only strengthened the workers’ resolve, but they won’t be rehired without concerted pressure from #AllOfUs.
