Mobilize for Golden Farm Workers: Boycott Re-Launch!
Where: Golden Farm, 339 Church Ave, Brooklyn, NY
After a long and grueling fight for reasonable pay, a few paid sick and vacation days, and simply respect at their workplace, workers at the Brooklyn grocery store Golden Farm need our support more than ever.
They won the battle for union representation last September, but owner Sonny Kim has dragged out negotiations for over 10 months. Kim is likely attempting to run out the clock and delay a full year, after which he may attempt to decertify (and dissolve) the workers’ union.
That’s why the Kensington community and New York Communities for Change (NYCC) are launching a renewed boycott this Saturday at 2pm, and call on supporters of workers and labor around the city to mobilize in support of Golden Farm workers.
From now through late September 17, it is crucial that workers have our support on the picket lines and with actions inside the store. Come to the rally on Saturday, and regardless, if you can spare even an hour’s time in the next month and half, write firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll pass your info to the organizers.
With renewed and increased community pressure, we will force Sonny Kim to sign a fair contract with the workers that have so courageously stood up for their rights at work.
Saturday, August 10 at 2pm — 339 Church Ave, Brooklyn (F/G train).
Support grocery store workers throughout Flatbush on the same day, starting at 11am.
