99 Pickets, a group originally from Occupy Wall Street, seeks to help build a mass workers’ movement in New York City and beyond. We are workers, immigrants, artists, the unemployed, students and retirees: the 99%.
At our monthly meetings, we provide an ongoing forum to bring together workers involved in organizing throughout New York City. We also act as a solidarity network of activists who plan actions in support of worker struggles. Our goal is to help workers improve their working conditions, build a culture of solidarity, and grow the workers’ movement in New York City.
We aim to revitalize the picket line—a tactic with a long and rich history—within worker-driven, creative solidarity actions to draw attention to the common struggles of people across the city.
From wage theft, discrimination, abusive employers, food justice, misclassification, exploitative working conditions, retaliation for organizing, to unsafe workplaces, 99 Pickets strives to connect the dots between seemingly isolated conflicts, building a community and a movement to counter the 1%.
